Dressing for spring, literally.

Dressing for spring, literally.

Get it? Dressing for spring..because i’m in a dress ..

This is why i’m a blogger and not a comedian, or someone who’s job it is to come up with witty headlines.

Have i ever mentioned my favourite movie is The Devil Wears Prada? (Yes, 3 million times.) And what do we all think about when anyone talks about that wonderful movie, with many a fashionable montage set to happy music? “Florals for spring? Groundbreaking.” Yes i’m a cliché, but when Boohoo asked if i wanted to pick a spring dress my mind immediately goes to florals; because when you’re someone who likes to dress down dresses, florals are the way to go.

I don’t wear dresses that often, but when i do i never like to make them into too much of a thing, so i always try to dress them down. Like autumn is known as leather jacket season, spring to me is known as denim jacket season. Since about 2008 – the days where i exclusively wanted to dress like Taylor Swift – they’ve been my go to when i’m wearing a dress.

10 years on my philosophy is no different, although this bardot dress would fit perfectly into a holiday backdrop, while i’m still in London an extra layer is seriously needed.

Yes, you’re right; i did look for flowery locations to shoot this blog post, i will bring spring to the UK single handedly if i have to.

Although this has got a bardot neckline it also has straps that cross over at the back, which is great when you think about the usual “is my dress going to fall down” thing that usually comes with dresses like this.

Boohoo set me a bit of a challenge while picking this dress, it’s from the occasion dresses section and because i didn’t fancy roaming round the streets in a long bridesmaids dress, i basically needed to weather and London proof this outfit.

Rather than a cropped denim jacket i went for an oversized style, and rolled the sleeves a little bit so you can see a little bit of wrist. (I’m a fan of a little bit of wrist, as well as a little bit of ankle with jeans and trousers, you might’ve noticed)

Over the knee boots might look unpractical but they’re actually great, it’s almost as if you’ve got leggings on because the material is usually pretty thick. They’ve been my way of avoiding black tights for months now so it means you can still wear skirts and dresses while it’s colder, without hiding the fact you actually bothered to fake tan this week. (ahem.. me)

So there you have it, the dress, dressed down. Spring i’m ready for you, and i’ve been surgically unattached from my jeans.
