It’s January, everyones downing green juices on the treadmill while flipping pages of “How to be an overnight success”, everyone except those of us who’s main priorities include finding a new eye cream ..i would be part of the latter group. A new year, a new month and i’ve got a few new products that have either made their way into my life recently, or that i’ve been using for a while now and really need to tell you about, because they’ve only gone and changed my bloody life.
The first being Lancome La Vie Est Belle. I’ve got quite the perfume collection (i think i have about 10 bottles sitting on the shelf now) and while this has only come into my life recently, i’ve actually had a bit of a thing for it for a while. I’ve written about my time working on a perfume counter on here before, it meant i had the keys to every single bottle of perfume imaginable and more importantly the testers – at the start of everyday i would spritz a different scent on myself, Lacome La Vie being one of them. I once had a tiny 5ml tester bottle of this which i brought with me to New York, so whenever i smell this i instantly think i’m about to start my day in the big apple.. which i’m not but i can dream, right?
In this glam world of beauty blogging what could i have been using on my hair for the last 3 or so months? Something that could potentially be used on a horse. Someone has actually commented on one of my Instagrams of this saying they do use it on their horse so, i’ll take it as fact if the horse picture on the label didn’t do it for you.
The Mane and Tail detangler spray has always intrigued me, i had seen a few people rave about it on Instagram and after about a month of using it i found myself doing the same thing, it really is as good as people say it is.
I spray this onto wet hair after every wash and instead of having what i like to call “scratchy hair”, my hair goes all floppy and soft (floppy and soft not being ideal words to describe hair but i’ve never been good at descriptions).
I actually switched up my makeup routine in December to January – if you’re new here you’ll know i stick to a lot of brown, a lot but i’ve stepped out of the box slightly with the use of this Bobbi Brown long wear cream eyeshadow stick. I’ve had this for a while now but i feel like i’ve properly experimented with this lately and shocker i basically use it everyday now. It’s in the colour Bark (as in tree, not dog, well it could be dog, but i’m thinking it’s tree) it’s a very wearable, creamy grey – i apply it straight from the bullet onto my lid and blend it out, i either leave it like that or use it as a base for shimmer to stick to if i’m feeling sparkly. Cream eyeshadow sticks used to kind of scare me, i always used them as a base and stuck to cream toned colours for that reason but this grey one has changed the game for me, it’s the quickest way to do an eye look that looks put together, when really all you’ve done is essentially blended a crayola crayon over your eyelid. Ta daH.
Sticking with Bobbi Brown because why not, i now have a new daily concealer (told you i was branching out). I don’t want to go into this one in too much detail because i’m planning on featuring it in another post, but seen as it’s become something i use daily i couldn’t not include it in this. This is the Instant Full Coverage Concealer which is always music to my ears, but the main reason i wanted to talk about it as soon as possible is because this is so different to your usual high coverage concealer. Products that are high coverage usually leave everyone feeling a little bit caked or heavy, but this manages to somehow be full coverage while also being sort of dewy? I put a question mark after that because i too am confused but also pretty happy about it. Even though i have oily skin and i do use a foundation over this, it’s so nice to be able to apply some of this under a semi matte foundation, and not feel like you’ve got 10 layers of coverage on your skin.
Finally, we (or me but we’re all in this together) have a mascara from a brand that i always see around but have never actually worked out how to say the name, let’s do this together shall we? Diego Dalla Palma, wasn’t so hard in the end really ..sometimes my brain sees slightly longer bits of text and just refuses to go through the whole word so i just create a nickname in my mind.
Ramble aside, i got this mascara from the M&S beauty advent calendar (aka the best beauty advent calendar) and because it’s a full size i was instantly drawn in. I’m a bit of a mascara snob, i’ve been using Charlotte Tilbury legendary lashes for nearly 2 years now, despite my annoyance at it’s, shall we say smudging qualities..? I was convinced nothing could lift my lashes like it, but after trying this i’ve broken my CT devotion and am already trying others, i’m like a new woman! This has a really curvy wand which i love, it means you get really good volume and the formula itself doesn’t leave me with any eyebrow smudges – if you know, you know – however i am in clumpy territory with this one, so i have to go easy with it, mascara is a precision sport after all.
What are your new year favourites?
