I have two ways of knowing if something is a wide spread trend, either if i’m wearing said trend i’ll be able to pick out multiple people wearing the same trend on the tube, or when you look at a group of 18 year old girls they’ll all have a hint towards it in their outfit choices.
Last night i looked at a group of girls across from us in the pub (hashtag classy blogger) and they were all wearing teddy coats. Yes, their usual uniform of adidas superstars and joni jeans was intact, but the teddy coat in black, burgundy, cream and a mustardy brown had infiltrated it’s way into their winter wardrobe – meaning they’re basically everywhere right now.
I’ve written about trends before, how yes, sometimes i do freeze in October or get wet toes in an April shower after a very in purchase of heeled mules.. but there’s always a part of me that goes back to primary school aged Maria, who told a group of girls she’d rather be warm than fashionable (i wasn’t cool in school). What neither group of 8 year olds could get their head around was the prospect of being warm and fashionable, who would’ve thought it? That is where the teddy coat comes in.
Oversized, fluffy and warm. I’m basically a beanie, handbag and a lot of hair in this weather, it’s almost both an anti-outfit and wearing the coat everyones wearing at the same time.
Even when the weather is a few degrees above zero i can wear a long sleeve top under this without the dreaded 4 layers of old Primark t-shirt, and still be toasty. The inner lining is quilted and i do feel as if i’m wrapped in a duvet wearing this..which in my opinion, is the only way to be.
Finally can we just talk about my new bag for a minute, i say “new bag” with importance because i never get new bags. I’m a really practical person and up until a few weeks ago i had two bags which i switched between, a big Longchamp one i’ve had for 3 years (and is still going perfectly strong) and a smaller Zara one for evenings ..she calls herself a fashion blogger..
Now however i own this beautiful and pretty classic bag, i would’ve never thought to go for a navy bag but something about the soft tones this really spoke to me, and i knew i had to have it. It’s great quality and it looks much more expensive than it is, which is all i look for in a bag really…
Have i convinced you the teddy coat is the best trend about?
