Ever since i was younger i’ve had a fascination with sparkly dresses, even when i was in school i anticipated the festive season with thoughts of what life would be like when i had an “office” Christmas party ..where i could dress like every Christmas and NYE magazine edit in the sparkliest dress possible. Fast forward a few years and i definitely don’t have an office party to attend, but i did have the Jingle bell ball to attend with Debenhams ..it’s like the blogger answer to a Christmas party.
Actual cinderella like balls aren’t a regular occurrence in every day modern life (unless you’re part of the royal family that is). So when Debenhams said “You shall go to the ball” i knew they were taking about the jingle bell ball, and that i would finally get the sparkly dress i’ve always dreamed of..and wearing it to a concert is much better than an office party if you ask me.
I’ve always had an image in my head of my perfect sparkly dress, it would be long sleeved, thick enough to keep me warm and definitely dark green. I actually ordered a dress like this years ago from somewhere else, i imagined it being perfect but when it arrived it just didn’t look how i imagined (lets face it that happens a lot online). So when i was looking through the Debenhams’ party wear section i almost didn’t go for the one i picked in the end, i thought i didn’t have the confidence to wear it and i would end up disappointed like i was when i ordered the similar one years ago. Just as i was about to order a different dress fate stepped in, it wouldn’t be delivered on time for the ball so i was convinced to give my idea of a dream dress a try.
When the sequinned green number arrived i was literally left staring back at the dress of my dreams, i tried it on and it was perfect. I’ve never been so in love with a dress in my entire life, and i’ve already planned to re-wear it on New Years Eve because i think it’s also the dream NYE dress.
The dress is actually sold out now but they have plenty of sparkle on the party wear section.
With the help of Debenhams i accessorised my party dress with an essential for this time of year, the sparkly cutch ..you can never have too much sparkle at Christmas. Usually clutch bags are unrealistically small and as someone who is a self confessed handbag filler they don’t usually work for me, but this Oasis envelope clutch is the perfect size. I can fit absolutely anything in here but it’s small enough that i don’t go overboard filling it with rubbish, and it’s still small enough to bring out with you without having to worry about carrying a big bag.
To help with keeping everything i need in a clutch bag i have this little card holder. Usually i carry a really big heavy purse but you don’t need a handful of loyalty cards at the ball, so i downsized to this and managed to fit my debit, ID, oyster card and cash all in this really thin holder. Also I’m really loving grey at the minute, so i’m very much in love with the mixture of suede and leather grey in this.
This entire outfit will be recycled a good few times over the festive season, and it really wasn’t hard considering how much choice Debenhams have.. they said you shall go to the ball, and i did.
