A dress is deceptive. I know when i look at someone wearing a dress i always assume they’ve put a lot of effort into their outfit, but really they require the least amount of effort. You pull a dress over your head and you’re in a complete outfit, an outfit most would assume you spent at least a few minutes thinking about, and you definitely look more put together than wearing jeans and a t-shirt..
Being well and truly submerged in the colder months now, the word dress doesn’t automatically spring to mind, but that is where my new favourite thing comes in – the jumper dress.
Yes. Finally. A trend that i can get into because 1. You can wear it on the tube without looking like an idiot, and 2. It’s warm. Hello practicality.
This little number is from ASOS petite, it’s well made, thick and really comfortable. Y’know, you are essentially wearing a stupidly long jumper so how could it not be any of those things? Quickly on the topic of well made, ASOS is almost like the original online clothing destination and i’ve always found their own label stuff to be incredible. A lot of the time ordering online can be like a game of “will this look anything like the picture?” but ASOS pretty much get it right every time, and you can’t fault the quality.. so little shoutout to ASOS and their petite range in particular, for the vertically challenged amongst us.
While on my search for a jumper dress all i knew was that i didn’t want it to be black, i’m small and would run the risk of looking like i was wearing a belted bin bag if i picked up a black option. When i saw this almost “taupey” nude jumper dress in the petite section it spoke to me, but it shut up pretty quickly when i realised they didn’t have my size. So, i gave up on my hopes and dreams of a jumper dress until i checked a few days later and they had restocked, and i knew it had to be mine.
My biggest worry when i was on my quest for a jumper dress was how the hell i’d get one that didn’t go past my knees, if you didn’t know i’m 5 ft 2 – dresses and skirts can be a awkward situation, especially when we’re talking jumper dresses that typically come up quite big and long. I opted to get it from the petite section like i said, and sized down, which was a good decision. There’s a lot of risk of getting a jumper dress too big, but i think i did pretty well with this.
Although the taupe colour of this looks like it could go with a lot, i wanted to pair it with soley black accessories (i snuck in my Pandora ring too because you know i can’t be without it). Although i’ve instagrammed the hell out of this watch i haven’t actually featured it in a post yet, despite wearing it everyday since i got it. This is the Daniel Wellington Classic Petite Ashfield, it has a black mesh strap, black watch face with rose gold accents aka the most perfect watch i’ve ever owned. I don’t ever leave the house without wearing one of my Daniel Wellington watches, (seriously they’re like my prize possession) and having this dark one now is so perfect for the colder months, where all of my clothing takes a cooler toned twist.
My Daniel Wellington discount code MARIAJBLOGS is running up until the end of December and gets 15% off everything on the site, at this point i always point out that’s not an affiliate code so it’s really just so you can treat yo self and save some cash!
My other all black accessories paired with this are my good old black suede trench, trusty Longchamp which holds everything but the kitchen sink, and my new favourite New Look boots. The boots have gotten so much ware already that they’re starting to look battered, but it’s mainly because i can’t walk without bashing into things, a polish is in order.
This is one of those outfits you put together and seem to forget you own anything else when you start wearing it, expect to see me in this quite frequently.
