Usually i hate summer dressing, (I still do a tiny bit, the resentment for the temperature is still there) but this summer i decided to try and be different than i have been in past years. I decided just “not wearing a jacket” wasn’t what most people would call summer dressing, and have made an attempt at moving away from my jeans and a t-shirt summer style. Here are the pieces that are new in my wardrobe for summer..
Are you currently thinking “will Maria ever get a new jacket?” Don’t worry i’m not going to go on about my pink jacket again, i’m actually talking trousers. Up until a few months ago trousers used to scare me, i used to think i’d look like a child dressing up in their mum’s workwear, but i chose to embrace it and trousers have become my new thing. These ASOS petite trousers have been my go to when i need to be smart but not too dressy, also they’re a welcomed break from jeans in this heat.
The shoes i’m wearing in this picture are also a new go to for summer, i grabbed them on sale and they only had my size left which makes them feel like even more of an achievement. I hate wearing high heels but i’m also the same height as your average 10 year old, so these are perfect for me; i always feel like i have so much more of a presence when I’m a little bit taller, and these give me a little bit of extra height without any foot pain. Also they’re a grey suede, do i need to say anymore?
“What are you wearing?” “Jeans and a nice top” Jeans and a nice top is the go to combo, except there’s always an issue .. i can never find the top. Ladies and the 5% of my audience who are gentlemen, i’ve found the nice top. This top is by The Fashion Bible on Trendeo who you’ve most likely come across on instagram, it’s cold shoulder, flowy, floral and perfect for summer. I wore this out on a Saturday night and i’m also planning on wearing it to a christening, that’s what i call a versatile “nice top”.
Here i am in this Peacocks t-shirt again, slogan tees are my thing now and i can’t stop wearing this one ..i just realised I’m wearing it now too. You might have seen this in my post about the Peacocks A/W press day, it’s from the new season collection and will definitely be a staple A/W piece, unless i wear it out before then.
The silver shoes I’m wearing in this have also graced my feet many a time in the last month, heeled mules are like secret heels, they give you extra height but aren’t difficult to walk in. These just smarten up any outfit, a t-shirt and jeans looks much less like a t-shirt and jeans with these on. They do rub my toes though so that situation is currently not very pretty.
I’ve done it, i’ve embraced the whole cold shoulder bardot style top, i couldn’t really avoid it any longer could i? This is a top i’ll definitely be bringing with me on holiday, it’s such a lightweight soft fabric and having my shoulders out means i’ll be even cooler. I feel like the slightly cropped sleeves mean i could get away with wearing this at home too, yet another jeans and a top combo anyone?
It wouldn’t be summer without some new jewellery to catch the light, usually i feel like really weighty jewellery costs the earth so i tend to go for lighter pieces but this month i received these two pieces from Buckley London which have changed my opinion all together. This pendant necklace and ring are from the Bexley collection and are probably the most beautiful jewellery i’ve ever owned, i mean they’re rose gold for a start, they’re such good quality but are reasonably priced. Buckley London jewellery is the type of jewellery you can buy as a beautiful present or as a treat for yourself where you feel like you’ve made a timeless investment without a three figure price tag.
