On Saturday i was invited to the FDC Young designer awards at the Pullman St Pancras hotel to interview and view collections created by this years young designers, read on to see all of my photos of the event..
The venue was so beautiful i couldn’t resist taking several photos before the presentations started; the interiors were sleek, stylish and modern but given a warm inviting feel with their lights and christmas decorations.
YU WEN HUNG DESIGNS:
This was one of my stand out pieces from the day, a jacket designed by Yu Wen Hung inspired by Andy Warhol which takes classic american capitalism and consumerism turning it on its head by making fashion cheaper and accessible for everyone.
THE HOUSE OF RADHA:
The House of RADHA comes from british-asian influences and creates a mix of hand printed unique couture pieces and street wear styles.
Jasmin has a background in theatre costume making and wants to bring fashion, costume design and culture together. To bring art, culture and history together Jasmin uses tiny hand painted coloured pieces to create the look of ancient Chinese armour with a colourful twist.
Sara takes inspiration from Alexander McQueen, she has studied his life story and produced outfits which reflect McQueen’s father’s struggle with mental illness and treatment in hospital. She describes her designs as structural garments rather than traditional pieces.
Finally i spoke to Addy from Firan&Rose who designs pieces inspired by her Armenian culture and also makes chokers which you can check out here!
