Does anyone buy anything without reading a review anymore? I know i don’t. In the current climate of beauty bloggers there are products which constantly get the best reviews, i’m the first to admit i’ve bought into the reviews to be either amazed or left wondering why everyone was amazed. I’m going to talk through a few of the raved about products i’ve bought and whether they we’re actually worth the hype.
Pixi Glow Tonic £18 250ml: This could possibly be the biggest cult product there is and for good reason; glow tonic is definitely worth the hype. It contains 5% Glycolic acid to chemically exfoliate the skin without being abrasive, its helps to brighten, refresh and reveal smooth skin underneath. If you’re someone who is still using manual exfoliators like scrubs with micro beads give this a try, its much better for your skin and you’ll get way better results in just one sweep.
First aid beauty facial radiance pads: These come in two different size tubs, one comes with around 20 pads and the other with 60, I’m so glad i bought the smaller tub. I had heard so much about these particularly on instagram when looking at peoples skincare routines so i was excited to try them out. I was disappointed, these were not worth the hype at all. I saw no difference in my skin and only lasted me around three weeks. They were also VERY expensive for three weeks worth of toner.
Finally from skincare we have the origins mask primer £18.50 95ml: I’ve only ever seen bloggers talk about this, its a very ‘blogger’ thing isn’t it? first we had makeup primers and now we’ve got mask primers but this is worth the hype despite sounding like a complete fad. What i’m most impressed with is the ingredients, its full of humectants to lock in moisturise and general good things; I definitely see the difference when using this with a mask and then without using it.
Moving onto makeup and theres nothing more ‘instagrammable’ than an hourglass product, although i couldn’t quite convince myself to part with the money for the ambient lighting palette i did buy one of the ambinet lighting strobe powders in iridescent light. Its beautiful, i wear it everyday and even when i get home from a full day of work i can still see my highlighter in the mirror, Its a really nice shimmer and the product itself is so soft. It can be used wet for more intensity, personally i think its enough as it is but you could go full kim k highlight with this one.
Nyx soft matte lip cream £5.50: I think these sort of started the liquid lipstick trend without being a liquid lipstick; everyone loves a nyx lip cream and its understandable why. These are worth the hype, pigmented, opaque and have a good lasting time for the price without being hugely drying because of their cream formula. They also smell amazing as well. I have the shades Zurich 14 and Cannes 19.
|no 19 cannes is the darker shade and 14 zurich is the lighter.|
I think its great we have such a huge community of bloggers who we can turn to before spending money on something that might not be great. A lot of the time products that are raved about are great products and thats why they receive all the good reviews although some might not be what you expect! Do you think different about any really hyped products?
