Lets talk about it: buying followers

Yep i'm going there, today we're talking about the practices which I've seen going on on social media recently: the spam comments, the mass following, suspended accounts and all around fakery. Its going to be a long one, I've got a lot to say.
Instagram fakery is on the rise and I'm starting to see bloggers i would've considered my internet friends using spam tactics to grow their follower numbers.
I want to bring light to the other side of social media, the side which i was ignorant to before becoming a blogger that has become increasingly relevant in the past weeks and months.

A day in Paris

On Tuesday my best friend and i hopped on the Eurostar for a day trip to Paris; when i say hopped i do mean got up at 4 AM and wrapped myself in a blanket scarf until we were firmly in the departure lounge but none the less there was at least some hopping involved. Like i've done with other cities and counties i've visited, today i've compiled all of my favourite photos together in one big visual post.
However for those of you who prefer video i've also filmed my day in paris for my youtube channel; click below to watch!

Doing Christmas on a budget

I'm used to getting the same christmas decorations out of the cupboard every year, they're always there and they seem to always have been. But what about those who are having christmas away from home for the first time or those who want to celebrate it but don't have the cash to spare?  How would you even begin to start the collection of christmas decorations that every house seems to have? Especially if you're short of cash...

High end trends high street alternatives

Fashion even "ready to wear" fashion isn't always realistic, be it for everyday life or for your bank balance. I set myself the task of going over A/W16's trends and working out how to integrate hints of the catwalk into our wardrobes using high street alternatives. Ebay brush dupes???

My first ever makeup brushes were bought from Amazon for £3.99, they even came with a carry case and i still use some of the brushes today. Even though its probably hugely unsanitary to use brushes from 2012 the point is they're still good; they wash up perfectly and i've never experienced any bristles falling out. Although i own my fair share of real techniques and mid range brushes i'm always drawn to the cheaper brushes because i've found so many amazing quality ones in the past. So i wanted to see if duplicate brushes from brands like RT and Mac could stand as competitors for the real thing.

Travelling series:Travel organisation tips.

When booking our yearly family holiday i would sit at the desktop computer and google flight times and prices and write them down for my mum and dad; even when it came to paying i would put in the card details (I think this is why i'm slightly addicted to online shopping). So with literally years of experience i've come to be very organised when it comes to travel, so today i'm going to share some of my tips with you to make everything before you get on the plane go to plan.

Travelling series:In flight beauty routine.

Hi everyone, it's the second week of march now so its time for the second part of my march travelling series which is my in flight beauty routine. I've watched and read a lot of these recently and i have to admit mine isn't as intensive as some. My main focus on a long haul flight is to remove my makeup as soon as possible and get my face clean and then to keep it clean and hydrated. So my in flight beauty routine isn't one that involves sheet masks and eye patches which to be honest i think is a lot more realistic for those of us who are sitting in economy.

Skincare tips for acne skin.

I don't really know what to call this post, yes its tips for acne skin but they're all tips that go against what is usually thrown in your face when you walk down the skincare isle. Its something that i've noticed recently, that all the things marketed towards people with acne/oily skin are truthfully things that will make skin worse. The biggest problem here is that the majority of products in the low end market contains or do the things that will make skin worse so when drugstore skincare shopping its important to know the areas to avoid - and there's a lot of them.

Moisturisers for oily/ combination skin.

I mentioned in my January favourites that recently I've been finding my usually oily skin was getting dry in places so i set out on finding a good drugstore moisturiser that wouldn't clog my pores or clause blemishes while keeping my skin hydrated. In the past i used to be tempted to skip moisturiser altogether in fear of making my oily skin worse, but its so important to keep even oily skin hydrated because skipping this step can cause over production of oils making your skin even more oily.

January Favourites

January is a weird month isn't it? Everyones torn between turning their life around for the year ahead while being broke at the same time. The month has now come to an end and that means two things: 1) endless emails from shops you're subscribed to trying to get you to spend your long awaited january pay check and 2) FAVES!!!!
I've changed up a lot of things in january mainly in my skincare regime and i've also started loving a few new random things, lets start with the beauty stuff..

Smashbox photo finish primer DUPE

Hi everyone! Just a quick one today; recently i received the smashbox photo finish primer and thought i was in love and really i was. Except i wasn't in love with the price tag and seen as i go a bit over board with primer i would probably use the bottle within a month; however i did decide i would most likely purchase the primer after i finished by tube because i hadn't ever been so impressed with a primer until i discovered this...

Makeup Basics Series: face makeup

I had a request to do a post on makeup for beginners and i really wanted to do it, but there is so much to makeup that i don't think i can even fit the most basic of outlines into one post. So i've decided to do a makeup basics series split into a few posts and today we'll start with face makeup; i'm going to try and split it into categories, highlight what things to consider when questioning what products you want to try and recommend some products.

Masque Bar Review

I think everyone, like me, has been seeing sheet masks everywhere recently so i thought i should jump on the sheet mask bandwagon and give them a try myself. I picked up two different masks from Masque Bar: the brightening sheet mask and the luminizing charcoal peel off mask (so actually only one of these is a sheet mask but still) they have 7 in the range some of which i will be definitely trying after i use up all the masks.

Soap&Glory makeup haul and review

image

If you follow me on twitter you may have noticed that recently i’ve developed a bit of an obsession with the soap and glory body products and now i’ve decided to give their makeup a try. Every product pictured above is available to buy in the “well i’ll be glammed” set from boots which from today onwards is at 70% off (if you can get your hands on it) and also all available separately. i was even more drawn to reviewing soap and glory makeup as from this week the products are available online for European countries at international boots and i think are also already available in the US.

I’m going to start with the only makeup product from s&g that i’ve owned before and that’s thesupercat felt tip liner. This was actually the first eyeliner i ever bought back in 2011 but since then moved onto liquid eyeliner so i haven’t owned it in a while. Usually i don’t like felt tip liners but if i’m going to purchase one it will always be this; its very black, lasts all day and above all is so easy to apply. Not a bad word to say.

Now for everything else that i’ve never used before until today starting with the thing i was most excited about (mainly because it LOOKED SO GOOD I WANTED TO EAT IT)

See what i mean? This product is like all my makeup dreams came true, its the ‘love at first blush’ blusher. Now although this is a blusher i think the mix of colours make the result quite shimmery which i love as it means it can also be used as a subtle highlight. The finish is such a pretty pink but here comes the warning: if you’re like me and you see something like this and want to cover your brush and face in it beware, a tiny amount of this product goes along way. i used a blusher brush to apply a small amount to my cheeks and to dust it slightly over my cheekbones.
Moving onto something that i also gravitated to because of how it looked is the ‘solar powder’ bronzer. Being incredibly pale bronzer is something that always quite scares me because i’m afraid of looking like an idiot but this has a shade pale enough for me to use for contour that doesn’t terrify me. Again, i’m using the slightly angled smaller brush to apply this to the hollows of my cheekbones, it blends well and there isn’t any fall out with it which i’ve noticed with some other bronzers.

Mascara is something that i’m always so skeptical about after using the benefit roller lash and falling in love and since never being impressed with a mascara but…. the drought is over i’m impressed. I got their thick and fast collagen mascara and pleasantly surprised, although i didn’t see much volume it really did separate and lengthen my lashes after just one coat. (and its over £10 cheaper than roller lash shhh).

On the subject of eyes i also got the ‘lid stuff’ mini eyeshadow pallet, when i looked at this images of the naked 3 pallet popped into my mind, also once again the product just looks so nice.

In terms of the shadows themselves my swatches don’t do justice, they are really pigmented, really creamy and blendable and as long as you tap off the excess there is no fall out. As soon as i saw these colours i knew i would use every single one and i’m so excited to explore more about their eye shadows.

Finishing off with eyes finally i got their smoulder kohl liner; i don’t really ever use a kohl liner but i do like to have a good one stored away and this is just that, a good one. Super black, really pigmented and it just glides on with no dragging, once again well done s&g.

Plumping is something soap and glory seem to be obsessed with and its something i’ve never really delved into so i decided to try two of their sexy mother-pucker glosses in candy queen and plumsup. My initial impression is that they really tingle, the more gloss you apply the more tingle you get. My favourite shade would have to be plumsup i really like that its a darker colour which isn’t too loud and i think will become something i will wear quite frequently. My only drawback to these is that i feel like they are slightly drying so they’re not something i would wear on a daily basis but i still do like them.

The s&g brow archery is something that some of my favourite bloggers have raved about for a while so i was so excited to finally try it but this was the only product i bought that i was slightly underwhelmed by. My initial impression was that the thin shaper end really didn’t do anything and the tint end was okay but took a while to get going. I think this product would be good for people with really thin brows or people who prefer a look where you can tell they’ve filled in their brows. As for me i’ll stick to my collections £3.99 eyebrow powders.

Overall i was really impressed by the soap and glory makeup, especially for a brand who started out just doing body care things like shower creams etc. Its quickly become one of my favourite brands and i look forward to trying more of their makeup in the future.

High coverage easy drugstore foundation routine

Todays post is going to be on how i cover up my acne, marks and redness. There are thousands of tutorials like this on the internet so you’re probably wondering why i thought this was even necessary. The reason i’m doing this is because the method i use to cover up my marks is much simpler than the majority of tutorials i’ve ever watched and read; also my main product i use here is one that i’ve never seen written or talked about yet it’s amazing so i wanted to tell people about that particular foundation which i love.
i’m going to talk through it in a series of steps, now i did attempt to gif some things but thats a long story so you’ll have to use your imagination for some bits. ((i’m sure most of you are aware of the process of bouncing a beauty blender off your face a number of times so i think we’re good.))
Before we begin i’d like to mention you can get all these products from a drugstore or if you’re in the uk like me, boots or superdrug, It’s likely most of you haven’t heard of the foundation is use and thats because it’s a boots own brand but you can get this in the US. i know for sure no7 is stocked in walgreens because walgreens own boots and it is available at some target stores.

Skincare Routine for acne/ oily skin.

For my first blog post i’m going to talk about one of the beauty subjects i am most knowledgeable on: skincare for problem skin. I’ve had ‘problem skin’ since i was 10, having my worst acne at around 14 which has left me now aged 18 with some quite bad marks on both of my cheeks.
i still do get regular breakouts however, which means my skincare routine fits well with people who are still in the acne stage or those with oily skin. I’ve dealt with this problem for an incredibly long time which means I’ve had the opportunity to test an abundance of products; in this post i’m going to do a basic overview of my skincare routine and the products I know and love.
